Frequently Asked Questions
Some of the questions you may ask:
I love the colors and patterns in my slab. Will my countertop look just like it does as a slab?
In order to fabricate your slab we will have to do our best to make the counter’s dimensions fit on the slab. What this means is that some color, movement or veining may be cut away during the process. If there is veining, pattern, or just a particular portion of the slab that you really like, please let us know so that we can try to work it into the countertop. Alternatively, we would like you to take the time to thoroughly examine the slab for any inconsistencies or areas that are of particular dislike to you as these areas may become even more noticeable as the material is reduced from a slab to a countertop. If you notify us in advance we can work together to determine whether the best alternative is a particular cut or even a brand new slab.
Will my countertop have to have joints?
This depends. There are many reasons joints may be required to complete your countertop. Even though these reasons may vary, they can generally be summed up as follows: The countertop is bigger than the slab; entry into the destination space is limited (or the countertop is too big); and budgetary restrictions. Some counters will have to have a join as they are bigger than the slabs they are fabricated from. To keep costs reasonable Timeless Surfaces attempts to use as little material as possible. This means that we will try to make your countertops from one slab; however, if it is not feasible the counter will require a joint. If access to the space is limited (i.e., tight space; counter too big to get in the house), then a joint may be required simply to get the countertop to its final destination. And finally, since cutting a hole in the middle of a large slab will cause weakness or stress, even to a material as strong as granite, then joint placement (or more specifically requirements against joints) may lead to higher costs because of the intricacy in fabrication, transporting, and installing the fragile material in your home.
What will my countertop look like with joints?
While we strive to make the joints as inconspicuous as possible, these tiny seams will likely be visible.
To seal or not to seal?
Granite is natural stone so it is porous and can be prone to stain if left unsealed. To mitigate the risk of stain, Timeless Surfaces stains the countertops as part of the fabrication and installation process. As a result the finished product becomes as stain resistant as engineered stone countertops such as DuPont Zodiac
How often do I have to re-seal my countertops?
You can tell if your granite needs to be re-sealed by a simple test. Pour a few drops of water on the countertop for several minutes. If the area remains dark after the surface is dry, your countertop needs to be re-sealed.
What are my payment options?
Timeless Surfaces requires a fifty-percent (50%) deposit before start of fabrication or tile installation, with the balance due upon completion. Timeless Surfaces accepts cash and check for payment of goods and service
Timeless Surfaces is licensed to fabricate and install DuPont® Zodiac products.
